Doing what I love!

I feel extremely blessed that people have shown an interest in something I truly love doing. For the past few years I have made wreaths for my friends and family. I am now getting to share my passion with others. Since my boyfriend is a tech geek, I had him make me a website so I can share my story and show off my talent without flooding other sites with posts. I expect to share a lot, but life keeps me busy, so I apologize in advance if this blog gets neglected from time to time.

The image below is of the first wreath that I was asked to refresh. It came with a picture of the door mat and a request to try to tie them together.

I think the end result visually ties the wreath and the mat into a single design with each piece complementing one another. Thank you again for trusting in me to deliver the result you were looking for.

Getting into the spirit

So this year has been challenging, to put it mildly. On any other year we make sure we celebrate fall and Thanksgiving before we even consider breaking out any Christmas decorations. Well this year we needed something to brighten our spirits. What better way to do it than with a massive splash of color and lights. We didn’t even have leftovers to enjoy before we had the tree put up and more boxes out of the attic than we knew could fit up there. (Seriously we will be consolidating a lot of stuff before it goes back up.) Our winter wreath replaced our fall one on the front of the house, and a couple of orders came in for the big ones. I really like making these larger wreaths. The base wreath itself is 36″ wide but after the initial decoration and then filling out, fluffing, re-arranging and fussing, they usually end up a full 4 feet in diameter. That is a large pallet to work with and has every opportunity to brighten up a persons day. Enjoy these two and have a great holiday season and new year. Here is to hoping everyone’s 2021 is much much much better than their 2020.

Viva Fiesta!

Just because it was postponed a couple of times this year, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t still enjoy all the things we love doing during Fiesta. Number one on that list for me (yes even in front of street tacos) is decorating. Fiesta is just an excuse for getting everyone and everything covered in brightly colored materials or even confetti. And what better way to spruce up the old Casa than decorate that front door with some fiesta pride. Check out this beauty I just put together for a neighbor who needed her very tired fiesta wreath updated.

Between enjoying the colorful decorations and enjoying some queso with a margarita or two its going to be hard to not have a good time. Now I just need to hear some “Hey Baby Que Paso?” and find a sausage on a stick and I will be all set!

It almost makes me not miss standing in a massive crowd in a cloud of smoke with beer being spill on me, or enjoying an overcrowded ride in a bus with drunk people who will soon be driving back from the park and ride. Oh well there is always next year for that… 😉

Love Hurts!

For a while there I had so many orders I ended up getting hurt trying to deliver them all. It turns out that repetitive motions on un-prepared muscles can leave some damage. The wreaths need to be able to handle the South Texas weather and creatures. I can tell you how many birds have tried to build nests with materials from these wreaths. The answer to these cute little thieves, is to glue each and every stem to the wreath. I am a little embarrassed to admit it; but squeezing my black and decker glue gun so many times caused me to strain my forearm muscles. Imagine that “Tennis Elbow” from making wreaths. Who knew the dangers? Luckily the rush slowed enough for me to take a little rest and let it heal. I think I am going to rig up some type of contraption that can squeeze the trigger for me. Maybe some type of pedal operated thing that will free up both hands to hold the wreath. I can see it now. “The Wreath Auto Glue 3000”. Available at finer hardware stores soon!

Deliveries, pick-ups and friendly masked people.

Three more wreaths picked up today. Here at the house we are not always wearing a mask, but we have them everywhere. Turns out you can still see people smile even with a mask on. Delighted with the reaction to these 3.

Working on three more, two Magnolia Lemon and a Spring Time.
